Q   What is the maximum transfer rate for SATA?

o     The SATA transfer rate will depend on which interface the drive uses as well as which interface the controller card or motherboard uses.

o    The maximum transfer rate when using SATA 1.5Gbps (SATA I) is approximately 150 MB/sec.

o    The maximum transfer rate when using SATA 3Gbps (SATA II) is approximately 300 MB/sec.

o    The maximum transfer rate when using SATA 6Gbps (SATA III) is approximately 600MB/sec.

Q   Can we get more trays?

Q   What is the difference between the settings of JBOD, BIG, RAID0 and RAID 1

o     JBOD allow you to see two separate drives in the unit. BIG combine the two volumes in the unit and make it appear as a single drive. RAID0 allow the 2 drives to work together, volume is based on the smallest drive in the RAID times two. RAID1 mirrors the drives and make each drive redundant, allowing replacement of drive if one drive fails. Volume of drive is based on smallest drive.

Q   How do I switch between modes?

o     First power off the computer you are using with this model. Then switch the mode and power the computer up again. (Note: Switching modes can pose risks to data on existing drives in the unit if they were set in a different mode such as switch between RAID modes. Please back up your data before switching modes.)

Q   How do you perform a rebuild when a drive fails?

o    Replace the failed drive with a near identical working hard drive while the unit is on. Do not remove the working drive before or during the rebuild process. The unit will detect the new drive and will start rebuilding on to that drive.

Q   How do I know when rebuilding the volume is finished?

o    The rebuild LED is completely off. When the rebuild is in process, the rebuild LED will flash.

Q   Is there software to manage the RAID for this model?

o    We do not have any software to manage the RAID array. The RAID array is hardware based.

Q   Q What is the drive height limit?

o    The MB992SKR-B support 2.5” drives up to 9.5mm in height.

Q   Q When do you know one of the drives has failed?

o    There will be a solid red LED on the drive that has failed.
